Ian Franks

Partner and Field Operations
My journey into building began at nine years old, watching our family home being built. Naturally curious and never afraid to ask questions, that summer sparked a passion that has motivated and enriched my life ever since.

After college, I gained hands-on experience in traditional and conventional construction; from straw-bale building and timber framing in North Carolina to an apprenticeship in prefabricated construction, where precision, planning, and math spoke to me deeply. That foundation led me to 12 years with Nelson Treehouse, the company behind the TV series Treehouse Masters, where I built custom cabinets, spiral staircases, and one-of-a-kind structures while honing a design-build approach under real deadlines.

Eventually I managed Nelson’s woodworking shop; supervising, mentoring junior carpenters, and maximizing team efficiency. During that same period, I built a DADU on my own property and remodeled our family home, living the same challenges our clients face.

I believe prefabricated and modular construction methods can strike the ideal balance between time, cost, and lasting quality. I bring that conviction; along with a coach’s commitment to leadership, accountability, and constant improvement; to every project we take on.

Alex Meyer

Partner and Project Manager
I've been busy building something as long as I can remember. Imagining and building backyard forts and treehouses occupied much of my childhood. After high school I had the good fortune to work for a few contractors who built from the ground up, self-performing excavation, concrete, framing, and finish carpentry. Those early years gave me a hands-on understanding of every phase of construction.

After college, I returned to the trades and eventually transitioned into superintendent and project management roles. During the 2008 recession I went out on my own and was able to weather the economic downturn performing remodels of all types and sizes. Since then, I've built luxury treehouses throughout the United States and worked in both commercial construction and residential developement. After 30+ years in and around the construction industry, I have come to believe that clear communication, careful planning, and well managed execution result in successful projects, happy clients, and truly sustainable structrues that are built to last.

Cameron McKinnon

“Through his hands-on experience in the field, Alex brings real world knowledge of how projects are actually built. This allows him to approach budgeting, contracting, scheduling, and scope clarification with a depth of understanding that is hard to replicate. His ability to bridge the gab between the field and the office makes him an incredibly effective and respected project manager.”

Emily Nelson

"What truly sets Alex apart is his extensive hands-on field experience. Unlike many project managers who work primarily from an office, Alex has actually built what he manages. This practical knowledge allows him to anticipate challenges, develop creative solutions, and communicate effectively with constructions crews."

Scott Atkins

"Over my three decades in this industry, it’s rare to come across a partnership like Alex and Ian’s. Both bring a strong combination of project management expertise and hands-on construction knowledge, which gives them a well-rounded, practical approach from planning through execution.

Alex stands out as the most detail-oriented and organized PM I’ve encountered, while Ian is an exceptionally talented carpenter whose craftsmanship speaks for itself. Just as important, they operate with a level of integrity that’s hard to find. They communicate clearly, follow through, and do exactly what they promise. That balance of shared capability and individual strengths makes them an easy recommendation for any project."

Kalem A

"Ian built the cabinets in my kitchen and they came out beautifully. From concept to installation, there was excellent communication throughout. The craftsmanship is the kind you can only get from someone who's been doing this a long time. He took the time to match the wood grain and made sure everything was done the way he'd do it in his own home. My wife couldn't be happier with the outcome, and that's what truly matters."
